Our women took six of the top ten places, including NSQ in 2nd overall, followed closely by Jene, Agnes, Jeannine , Hanna, and - in her first post-baby race - Green Light. All of the above took hardware. The men's field included the return of Geoff, as well as Tom (bouncing back from Monday's crash), Michael and Jon Miles. Depsite a course PR and a top-20 finish overall, only Miles was denied hardware - and that was just because he's in the very competitive 30-34 AG.
Overall it was a great season opener on our home turf. NSQ had another podium finish, Johanna showed that she's on her way back, Jene had a great showing in her first CC race. Significant course PR's were set by a few of our athletes, and no one's complaining about all the plaques. Still, the real breakthrough performance of the day came from Agnes. This was her first top-5 finish in a multisport race, and she ran a marathon just two weeks ago.
Other friends racing included Sheriff Lindsay Eason, John Neiers, and once-and-future RATW rider Raul Martinez.
Among the adult spectators were Drew, Killer, Hillary, Steve, Deanna and Kate, and a few others who had to put up with my nervousness. The kids included Sasha and Sebastian. And don't forget our four legged friends Milton and Enzo.
