Our friends at the Prospect Park Youth Running Club are looking for sponsors. They do some great stuff with 5-13 year old kids running track and cross-country. Please take a look at their sponsorship proposal and help if you can.
Dear Prospective Sponsor,
I am writing to ask for your support for the Prospect Park Youth Running Club. We are in our third year as a community-based grassroots program that teaches the fundamentals of cross country running. Our primary goal is to offer the young boys and girls of Brooklyn an opportunity to experience the fitness benefits of long distance running and cross country competition. Our program offers an education-based experience through team building and personal achievement. Our successes have increased the demands for participation by families from many Brooklyn neighborhoods. Our entire coaching staff works on a volunteer basis. Initially, we fielded a roster of 55 children in 2008. We grew to 78 children in 2009, and currently over 90 members ages 5-13 in 2010. In 2008, 9 athletes qualified for the USATF Regional Championships, 13 for the AAU National Championships, and 1 for the USATF Championships. In 2009, 16 athletes qualified for the USATF Regional Championships, 26 to the AAU National Championships, and 3 to the USATF National Championships. The various regional and national level championship meets were held in Kansas, Alabama, Maine, Florida, and Nevada. These events offered our local student-athletes tremendous opportunities for travel and exposure. They met young athletes from all 50 states, as well as visited historical sites, such as the Jesse Owens Museum, Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, and Disney. This year, our team has displayed tremendous improvements and has already qualified over 40 athletes for the USATF Regional Championships to be held in Burrillville, Rhode Island. We expect to qualify an equal number of athletes to the AAU National Championships to be held in Florida, in December. Potentially, our team may qualify its largest group for the USATF National Championships. This is the highest pinnacle for youth cross country running in the United States of America. Success has its drawbacks. Our club is facing a financial burden of sending these athletes to higher level events. The estimated costs of these three meets is well over, $800.00 per athlete. This does not include the costs of meals and incidentals. Our staff has worked hard to secure small grants to fund our program. In 2010, we were awarded a $1,500.00 grant from United Stated of America Track and Field, the governing body of our Olympic team. We were selected as one of the most promising young programs in our country. This money was spent on vital training equipment, transportation, and scholarships for need-based athletes. As a leading member of our local running community, I am writing to inquire if you would be willing to support our work with a donation. Donations may be made in a variety of manners, including an overall donation to our program or sponsorship of an athlete(s) already qualified for advancement. Please consider these donation options:
