It's been a few years since our previous Nike runs with Lance Armstrong. We ran with him in 2006 (famous for him leaving me for dead on the 59th St. Bridge) and 2007 (famous for him suggesting that I speak with an accent).
This time around we did another "Pied Piper Run", with yours truly as the MC. The group left Niketown with 100 or so runners, then picked up another group at Columbus Circle and another along the Westside Highway, before finishing with a rooftop party at 230 5th Ave.
The run took place on Lance's birthday, and was coordinated with his visit to the United Nations summit on non-communicable diseases. After the run he spoke briefly of his plans to race an X-Terra tri this weekend and a half iron distance tri in Texas on 10/2, which is the anniversary of his cancer diagnosis.
