I had one of those moments today. The world was turning as usual. I was holding doors for people, doing my coworkers favors, and then WHAM. I was hit by a piano being played by a skinny blonde lady with large pockets. That piano was playing New York, NY.
Starting Spreading The News…..I’m leaving today…
I’ve withdrawn my facebook membership to their group already. When my annual membership expires it won’t be renewed. I will not participate in any more of their events.
I got screwed by the same race twice – shame on me. I signed up for an unnamed race involving stairs put on by a group that likely has mob ties - so we’ll keep their name out of this too. I have raced this race many years now. Sometimes I did well. This year it was more expensive. I believe it was $100; which is more than I pay anyone for less than 15 minutes of anything. So, despite having small pockets, I signed up. My goal this year was top 3. Over the years, I wasn’t so far off.
After I signed up I was told the time changed and that the race would be in time trial format. I was disappointed but was willing to go with the flow. After all, everyone had to suck it up, right?
Not right. In fact, wrong… They shrunk the elite race this year and limited it to record holders. This was not mentioned on the sign up page. In fact, I had to email them to find out that only ten ‘record holders’ would be permitted to compete in the elite race. Now, I don’t have any formal stair climbing records but probably could have gotten myself one if I had been notified that was what was needed. However, that was never mentioned and now I just paid $100 to run up a bunch of stairs for fun. I could have done that for free. I signed up for one thing and got something very different.
This has made me very angry. I wasn’t given a chance to compete, since I didn’t know the prerequisites. Had I known, I would have definitely tried for a qualifying record (which details haven’t been disclosed to my knowledge – does it have to be a stair record? From what organization?). So, here I am the ass with my $100 fun run pass.
I know that this makes no difference to them. But this is my blog and I had to put it out there. It’s unfortunate because it was a really great race for me (and others) and I could have gotten a massage or a tattoo with that hundred bucks.
