City Coach was all racing all over the place Thanksgiving morning. We were out in force at the first Thanksgiving Day Marathon, held on the challenging trails of Van Cortlandt Park. Scott and Katie ran the 10k, NSQ, Francis, Stephen and I tackled the half marathon, and Leanne decided that an impromptu marathon was the way to start the holiday. Leanne not only came in third among the women, but wins a bonus prize for racing longer than she slept the previous night. Also in attendance were friends Deanna Culbreath, Mike Eng, Steven Lee, Chantel Antonetti, Lucimar Araujo, Steve Perre and lots of other friends. All finishers were rewarded with a big ol' fork for Thanksgiving dinner.
Up in Rockland County, we had Sheila Monaghan winning the Rockland Roach Runners' Turkey Trot.
And back home in Brooklyn USA, we had Green Light, Lauri, Iris (and the SBH kids), and lots of other friends at the PPTC Turkey Trot.
Congratulations and Happy Thanksgiving all around.
Winter-Proof Your Run
Though it may seem like I spend all of my days taking undue credit for the success of my athletes and stalking cheaters, every once in a while I do take a break and work out. And when I do, I like to dress appropriately. (Last year's shorts-all-winter pledge notwithstanding.) So I was happy to see that Health Magazine included a few of my tips in their November edition. Check out the article written by our friend Rozalynn S. Frazier for all the details.
