Every once in a while I give the "No Hollywood" speech to out athletes. I like to remind them to run hard through the finish line and save the hooting and hollering. Do it to respect the competition, and do it to make sure you have your best finish.
If you doubt the possible consequences, look no further than the finish of the 2007 Chicago Marathon. And from the other perspective, remember this race the next time you think you're beaten.
